Six-Switch Bridge CLLC Bidirectional Converter for Energy Storage Systems

This paper proposes a new isolated CLLC resonant converter for automotive charging and discharging applications. The input includes full-bridge structure, the output battery side involves six switches to realize rectification function. On basis of component loss stress, this compares analyzes three battery-side structures: full-bridge, dual (eight switches), proposed six-switch bridge architectures. First harmonic approximation analysis indicates that these architectures have equivalent AC circuits are thus similar in design traditional structure. Moreover, topology demonstrates lower counts while maintaining same advantages as those full bridge, resulting greater efficiency cost. Furthermore, employing on secondary reduces voltage stress every switch by half output; low on-resistance power is used, conduction loss. In addition, zero-voltage-switching all entire range realized obtain high efficiency. Finally, 1-kW prototype successfully constructed tested verify feasibility at peak 97.1%.
